The theme of the SASE 2008 meeting is suggested by Karl Polanyi’s The Great Transformation. Polanyi interprets the history of industrial society in the 19th and 20th centuries in terms of a pendulum-like “double movement”. Call for Papers.
One-day conference on Karl Polanyi
The Université populaire et citoyenne de Paris hosted a two day international conference on “Innovations socio-économiques. Le débat contemporain” organized by Institute Board Member, Jean Louis Laville. The conference included a one-day session on “Revisiter Polanyi”. The event was held at the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers (CNAM), Paris. June 25-26, 2007. Program.
Continental Network for the Co-Production of Knowledge
2006-2007
The Karl Polanyi Institute is hosting a project on A Continental Network for the Co-Production of Knowledge, Research and Training. One of the activities organized by this project is a conference and an international training seminar on “The Processes of Co-Construction of Social Policy. Social Economy, Poverty Reduction and Labour market access”, held at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, December 11-15, 2006.

Kari Polanyi Levitt gave a lecture on “Karl Polanyi’s
Ideas on Globalization and Development”. The participants
